While we always appreciate the time and effort taken to submit content to our database, in order to stay in compliance with Section 107 of the Copyright Act, avoid abuse of our services, and to provide our users with the best experience possible, there are a few rules and guidelines that must be followed.

Please note that consistent failure to follow the guidelines or abuse of our services may result in account suspension or termination.

Acceptable Use

Media.onl aims to serve as an online database of media application for students and educators. While we encourage linking to the original source, we allow the ability for users to upload files directly to our website for users to download. Below is a list of prohibited uses of our services:

  1. Using Media.onl as a file-sharing, hosting, or storage website.
  2. Uploading or submitting content that is pornographic in nature.
  3. Uploading or submitting content that contains the abuse of children or animals.
  4. Uploading or linking to content that is harmful in nature, including, but not limited to: viruses, malicious code or software, phishing, etc…
  5. Using our services as a way to spread content that is misinformation, harmful, or hateful in anyway.

Submission Guidelines

In order to provide the most consistency for those seeking media, there are a few submission guidelines that need to be followed.

1. Content Must Portray an Educational Topic or Concept

In order to stay in alignment with the mission of this site and Section 107 of the Copyright Act, the content uploaded must have some educational value, which is the synopsis you provide when submitting the content. Please be clear and precise with your synopsis on how the submitted content relates to or portrays that educational topic or concept. Avoid mixing or uploading content that is unrelated. If you are submitting multiple content where each one is its own concept, please upload each one as its own post.

2. Only Upload Relevant Content

Please upload content that is relevant to your topic. For instance, if only a particular scene from a tv show or film is being used, do not upload the whole film, but rather just that scene or clip. If a full episode is what you are sharing, that is fine as long as the episode in whole is what encompasses your topic.

3. Be Accurate With The Information Provided

When submitting content to the database, please make sure all information is spelled correctly and is accurate in order to give legitimate credit to the original author and to help categorize the submission accurately. Do not falsify or misrepresent any of the information that you provide. Synopsizes should also utilize proper grammar. Failing to follow this rule multiple times may result in your account being suspend or terminated.

4. Be Sure to Provide Information About The Source (If Possible)

Since most of the content submitted is not original work, it is only ethical to provide information about the source of that content. When you submit content, specific types of content, such as songs, movies, and television clips/episodes, will ask you to provide information about that content. For example, any content regarding a television show will require that you provide: the title of the show, season number, and episode number. Doing this not only gives credit where credit is due, but also helps users find that content outside of Media.onl.

By following these guidelines, it allows you to stay within the parameters of Section 107 of the Copyright Act, as well as help ensure the Media.onl mission.
